Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Looks To Jan. 15 For The Home Entertainment Launch Of Director David Gordon Green's Halloween

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has selected Jan. 15 as the home entertainment rollout date for director David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween sequel to the original 1978 John Carpenter Halloween … anything that happened in the other nine films in the series was ignored for the release of this anniversary/event film.

Purests might be howling to the moon over the affront, but when you pull in $158.8 million in ticket sales it just doesn’t matter … a hit is a hit is a hit!   And, remember, Rob Zombie re-envisioned Halloween in 2007 and followed up with a sequel in 2009, so get move on.

The ARR works out to just 88 days and Universal will be releasing three different SKU configurations on Jan. 15 — DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack editions.

As to bonus features for this Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) versus Michael Myers horror tale, there are deleted and extended scenes and five production featurettes — “Back in Haddonfield: Making Halloween,” “The Original Scream Queen,” “The Sound of Fear,” “Journey of the Mask” and “The Legacy of Halloween.”
