DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Documentary filmmaker, professor at Johns Hopkins University and author, Bernadette Wegenstein’s (“Getting Under the Skin: Body and Media Theory,” “The Cosmetic Gaze: Body Modification and the Construction of Beauty,” etc.) compelling look at the lives and experiences of breast cancer patients and their surgeons, The Good Breast, will be making its way to DVD courtesy of Icarus Films on June 18.

Breast cancer patients and their doctors, including surgeon Lauren Schnaper —Director of the GBMC Sandra and Malcolm Berman Comprehensive Breast Care Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine — share their intimate experiences from the diagnosis of cancer, through consultation, surgery and reconstruction.

Each story; each experience is different and the interaction between patient and doctor, can, at times be contentious.   The “myth” of early detection and issues relating to the “breast cancer awareness movement” (which can be counterproductive at times) are also explored.

Bonus features include deleted scenes and behind the scenes footage.
