Pop Twist Entertainment, with sales and distribution support
provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has selected Friday, Oct. 21 for the DVD
debut of Don McLean: Starry Starry Night.
Filmed live in 1999 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin
Texas, iconic recording artist Don McLean delivers all of his major hits,
including a stirring rendition of “Vincent” (1971), his “portrait” of the life
of Vincent van Gogh, whose famous 1888 “Starry Night” painting was the
inspiration for both the song and this subsequent concert.
From Mclean’s first album, “Tapestry” (1970), comes “And I
Love You So,” which has been covered by numerous artists over the years — Perry
Como, Elvis, Helen Reddy, etc. — and “Castles in the Air;” From his 1981 album,
“Believers” is “Jerusalem” ( … “Jerusalem,
Jerusalem all roads lead to you”) and no Don Mclean concert would be
complete without his signature song, “American Pie.”
He also delivers covers of Roy Orbison’s “Crying” and Frank
Sinatra’s “It was a Very Good Year” and from his 1995 album, “The River of
Love,” comes “You’re My Little Darlin’” and “Angry Words.”
Don McLean: Starry Starry Night on DVD is a real treat for fans
of Don Mclean, especially with the video “upgrade” and new audio remastering
provided by Pop Twist Entertainment.
