Mongrel Media, with sales and distribution expertise
provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has tabbed Dec. 13 as the DVD debut date
for director Billy O’Brien’s sci-fi/horror thriller, The Hybrid.
The Russians were up to something, or perhaps we should say that
the former Soviet Union was up to something.
It seems that they found a mysterious meteorite that allowed them to
make hybrid humans, presumably for military purposes. The old order collapses, militias fill the
vacuum and the experimental facility falls into disuse.
No problem, right? A
bad idea has come to an end. If only
that were the case as a commando team — basically guns for-hire — have been
dispatched to find out what remains of the project.
Can anything worthwhile be salvaged? That’s what Powell (John Lynch) and a
“scientist” by the name of Dr. Healy (Morjana Alaoui) are after, but what they
find would best be left buried.
The Hybrid is a high-tech haunted house thriller and the
heavily armed team of mercenaries is basically your “victim pool.” First they have to work their way through
hostile country — that’s a good half-hour of suspense — just to get to the
“haunted house.” Then comes all the
creepy things that go with an unstoppable creature being set loose upon them …
one by one by one they die!
Cool creature, great suspense and plenty of action makes
Mongrel Media’s The Hybrid a must for genre fans during this Christmas season.
