FilmRise, with sales and distribution expertise provided by
MVD Entertainment Group, has tabbed June 13 as the DVD debut date for director
Raman Hui’s first full-length animated feature film, Monster Hunt.
After laboring as an animation artist and supervising
animator on such film hits at Antz, Shrek and Madagascar,
plus director of the short animated spinoffs of Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the
Furious Five and Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos,
Hui got his shot with this mega-budget animated feature-length film — Monster
Hunt was a box office smash in Asian markets (opening in the summer of
2015) — and it will now be available as an English-dubbed version for domestic
home entertainment consumption.
Indeed, Monster Hunt was such a hit that a
sequel is already in the works!
This film is certainly worth a look-see, especially if you
are a fan of the Shrek films — the monster and human mistrusts are a theme here
as well.
