VCI Entertainment has
announced that a new 2K restoration of director Mario Bava's 1964 (1965
domestic theatrical release) giallo-come-slasher
thriller, Blood and Black Lace, will be available on Oct. 23 (just in
time for the Halloween viewing season) as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack.
A double-jolt of killers
makes this horror delight stand up even today — a half-century and then some —
as Max (Cameron Mitchell) and Countess Christina (Eva Bartok) take turns
killing super models to cover up their involvement in an early crime!!
Yes, yes, that’s a
spoiler, but genre fans already know the outcome of the film as Max goes a
“bridge-too-far” in trying to cleverly do away with Christina, only for her —
in her dying moments — to realize what a sick bastard he is and then the magic
moment, BANG! Love it! Love it!
Love it!
Bonus features include
two new commentary options … one featuring Diabolique
Magazine’s Kat Elligner and the second teaming film historian David Del
Valle with author and actor/filmmaker C Courtney Joyner.
Other bonus features
include a video session with actress Mary Dawne Arden (as Peggy in Blood
and Black Lace), an archival video session with the aforemention Del
Valle and the film’s star, Cameron Mitchell and viewing options that include
the original Italian-language presentation or the 1965 English-dubbed
theatrical release. Lastly, there are a
video comparison between the domestic theatrical presentation and original
“Euro Cut” and bonus music tracks by composer Carlo Rustichelli.
