MVD Entertainment Group Bestows Marquee Collection Status On The DVD and Blu-ray Release Of Director Tobe Hooper's Mortuary

MVD Entertainment Group has bestowed Marquee Collection status on director Tobe Hooper’s 2005 haunted house horror tale, Mortuary.

The street date selected is May 14 and both DVD and Blu-ray editions will be available.

Leslie Doyle (Denise Crosby — Ray Donovan, Star Trek: The Next Generation) has just lost her husband and need a clean break from the past; a fresh start to heal old wounds.   So she packs up her two kids, Jonathan (Dan Byrd — Easy A, Sisters, The Hills Have Eyes) and Jamie (Stephanie Patton — Deep Impact, For Heaven’s Sake) and heads west after having bought the long-since closed Fowler Funeral Home.

It seems like a pretty good idea.   After all, every town of any size needs a mortuary and graveyard — yes, the Fowler property comes complete with a graveyard.   What she doesn’t know is that the place is closed for a reason … it seems that Bobby Fowler (Price Carson), the son of the owner, was a creepy, deformed little monster that killed his slaughtered his parents and disappeared without a trace.

A rundown cemetary, a mortuary with dead bodies and a creepy killer, that gives Mortuary all the trappings of a haunted house thriller … which is what it lives up to.   All that you need is a victim pool, which is ready and willing in the form of the local teens, whom Jonathan befriends.

It seems that Bobby has been a busy monster, tunneling under the graveyard, which secret entrances into the house.

He’s also infected with some horrible black goo that revives the dead, and as we soon learn, infects the living with the same result.  Zombie-like creatures and poor Leslie is a ground zero!

Bonus features included with this Marquee Collection release of Mortuary on May 14 are commentary by the late Tobe Hooper and the behind-the-scenes featurette titled “Inside the Graveyard.”
