It begins.
The remaining crop of summer (plus late summer/early autumn) theatrical
hits have their first December candidate (prime time for the Christmas-selling
season).
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment was the first
to pull the trigger this past week with the selection of a Dec. 10 street date
for writer/director Lorene Scafaria’s film adaptation of Jessica Pressler’s New
York Magazine 2015 expose, “The Hustlers at Scores,” which reached the screen
as simply Hustlers.
Planned for release are three consumer-buying
choices — Combo Packs for both the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) and Blu-ray (with
DVD) formats, plus there will be a stand along DVD SKU.
The ARR comes in at 88 days and domestic box office
receipts were a stellar $91.4 million for this stolen credit card numbers
scheme (hustle) starring Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu.
The only bonus feature is commentary by filmmaker Lorene
Scafaria (The Meddler, Seeking a
Friend for the End of the World).
