Arrow Video, with domestic sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has locked in Dec. 15 for the double-disc 4K Ultra HD debut of director Ron Underwood’s 1990 horror/action/comedy, Tremors.
Also, Arrow Video will be releasing a double-disc Blu-ray edition on Dec. 15 as well.
Before they could begin shooting the film in April of 1989, they had to build the town of Perfection, Nevada. All the tricks and tunnels for the giant worm-like creatures to systematically tear Perfection apart had to be created with the market, mobile homes and other out buildings built from scratch on top of the “gizmos.” They found Olancha, California a wide spot in the road off of U.S. 395 just south of Lone Pine, to be the perfect place … it all looks real.
Tremors is an absolutely goofy homage to the creature features of 1950s and the cast featuring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire plunge right in and deliver both thrills and laughs in equal measure.
As to bonus goodies — and there are a ton — we begin with two newly-prepared commentary options. The first features director Ron Underwood (City Slickers, Mighty Joe Young), who is joined by writer/producer Brent Maddock and writer/producer S.S. Wilson (they previously teamed for Short Circuit), and the second is with author Jonathan Melville, “Seeking Perfection: The Unofficial Guide to Tremors.”
There are deleted scenes, a new documentary titled Making Perfection, eight featurettes — “The Truth About Tremors,” “Bad Vibrations,” “Aftershocks and Other Rumblings,” “Digging in the Dirt,” “Music for Graboids,” “Pardon My French!,” “The Making of Tremors” and “Creature Featurette.”
Not done yet!! There is a companion disc loaded with more goodies, including three short films from co-writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, outtakes and an hour-long video session with Ron Underwood, Brent Maddock, S.S. Wilson, Nancy Roberts and creature designer Alec Gillis.
