Full Moon Features, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has tabbed Feb. 09 as the street date for both DVD and Blu-ray editions of director Alfonso Brescia’s 1972 giallo thriller, Naked Girl Murdered in the Park.
This rarely seen film will be arriving uncut and remastered from the original 35mm camera negative. We’ve seen some of the VHS crap that has been floating around (transferred to DVD doesn’t make it any better) on this classic giallo mystery and we can say, with confidence, that — as a giallo fan — if you have one of these knock-offs in your library, trash it. The Blu-ray edition from Full Moon looks absolutely gorgeous.
The story is about a rich millionaire, found dead and the family assembling to cash in on his estate. Enter detective Buyer (Robert Hoffman — Angélique, Wake Up and Die, A Black Veil for Lisa), who shows up at the family’s villa and in no time is cuddled up next to the sultry Catherine (Pilar Velázquez — One Dollar Too Many, The Arizona Kid, The Flower with the Deadly Sting, etc.).
Meanwhile, family members and the occasional staff, start dropping like flies, which should create a bid of conflict for Buyer, but Catherine is so soft and curvy that he is willing to overlook her role, if any, in the ever-increasing body count.
Naked Girl Murdered in the Park is presented in Italian, with English subtitles.
