Lionsgate Home Entertainment has tagged Jan. 3 as the street date for a three-SKU helping of director Daniel Stamm’s female exorcist chiller (with a devilish twist), Prey for the Devil.
The ARR comes in at 67 days and the domestic box office take currently stands at $16.9 million (and growing).
Planned for release are Combo Pack editions for the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) and Blu-ray (with DVD) formats, as well as a stand-alone DVD buying option.
It is a long-standing no, no … women cannot perform the Rite of Exorcism. However, Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers — You are Here, Bad Samaritan … as Jillian on the Salvation television series) has a special gift and is given permission to attend a special school for priests to be trained as Exorcists.
Which is worse, the taunts and derision of her fellow candidates … or the demon who seems to be stalking her!
Bonus features common to all three release configurations are commentary teaming director Daniel Stamm — The Last Exorcism, 13 Sins) with Sister Ann (Byers), plus a trio of featurettes — “Possessed: Creating Prey for the Devil,” “A Lullaby of Terror” and “The Devil’s Tricks: Visual Effects.”
Exclusive to the Combo Packs are two specials features, the cast-read of the first-draft screenplay and a discussion of exorcism titled “Speak No Evil: A Real Exorcist and Church Psychologist Discuss Possession.”
