Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has a new 4K Ultra HD edition of director Harold Ramis’ summer of 1983 film adaptation of John Hughes semi-autobiographical story, National Lampoon’s Vacation, ready for delivery on June 27.
What a road trip!! The Griswolds — Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron — pile in the “Family Truckster” and head out for Walley World. It is a trip that will never be forgotten in the annals of movie comedies.
Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid), Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca) and her “lovely” dog Dinky, the mysterious lady with the red Ferrari (Christie Brinkley) and more adventures than one deserves on a family road trip to Walley World … only to discover that it is closed!!! No problem, the Griswolds will enjoy Walley World — they’ve come so far and been through so much — even if that means that they have to take Lasky the security guard (played by John Candy) hostage.
Included with the 4K Ultra HD release of National Lampoon’s Vacation is a commentary option featuring director Harold Ramis, producer Matty Simmons and actors Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid, Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron.
Also added to the release calendar this past week is director Guy Ritchie’s Afghanistan War thriller, The Covenant, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim. Both DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack editions will be available for purchase on June 20.
The ARR is 60 days and domestic box office receipts are $15.4 million.
