Bayview Entertainment Targets Sept. 26 For The Blu-ray Debut Of Writer/Director Jeff Santo's Liar's Poker

Bayview Entertainment announced this past week that playwright-turned-filmmaker Jeff Santo’s 1998 film, Liar’s Poker, will be making its Blu-ray debut on Sept. 26.

An homage to Tarantino’s 1992 film, Reservoir Dogs, Liar’s Poker made its debut at the Chicago Alt.film Fest in June of 1998 and was subsequently acquired by Apix, which soon became Ardustry Home Entertainment and subsequently Allumination Filmworks … and then closed up shop back in 2006.

Liar’s Poker first got a VHS release in 1999 (when DVD was in its start-up phase) and then arrived on DVD in 2004, it has been out of print since then.

For most, this film, starring the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea (aka: Michael Peter Balzary), Richard Tyson (Black Hawk Down, There's Something About Mary, Naked Run), Jimmy Blondell, Colin Patrick Lynch and Caesar Luisi, is virtually unseen.

The story jumps about in time to fill in the narrative, which involves jealousy over a woman (Amelia Heinle — perhaps best known as Victoria Newman on The Young and the Restless), an investment in a shady nightclub gone bad and murder.   There’s a twist at the end as the narrative comes full circle, but it goes without saying that sex, greed and murder are always an explosive combination.
