Blue Underground, with sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has tabbed Aug. 27 as the street date for the full spread physical media release of director Enzo G. Castellari’s 1973 poliziottesco thriller, High Crime, starring Franco Nero.

Planned for distribution are a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack (with a bonus CD of the film’s soundtrack), plus stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray editions of the film.

Once Franco Nero became a star with Django, followed by his role as Lancelot in Camelot, he was an unstoppable force.   One film after another, but not all found their way to these shores.   High Crime, with Nero as a police commissioner trying to sort out who is behind a series of violent drug-related murders, is one of those films.

It opened theatrically in Italy and subsequently had an English-language track produced for a theatrical run in the UK, but that was it.

Blue Underground has the 4K Ultra HD world premiere lined up for Franco Nero fans to enjoy, which comes loaded with extras.   For starters, there are three separate commentary options — one with filmmaker Castellari, a second featuring Franco Nero, who is joined by filmmaker Mike Malloy and a third with film historians Troy Howarth, Nathaniel Thompson and Eugenio Ercolani.

Also counted among the extra features are an alternate ending and five featurettes — “The Genoa Connection,” “From Dust to Asphalt,” “Framing Crime,” “The Sound of Onions” and “The Connection Connection.”
