Shout! Studios will be teaming up with GKIDS and Studio Ghibli on July 9 for the domestic Combo Pack release of writer/director Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.
Being released on that date are editions for both the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) and Blu-ray (with DVD) formats.
Fans can either watch the beautifully animated tale in English or the original Japanese language track with English subtitles.
The ARR is a long-in-the-tooth 214 days and the domestic box office haul was an impressive $46.8 million.
Bonus goodies include the “Feature-Length Storyboards” feature, the “Spinning Globe” music video, the featurette titled “Drawing with Takeshi Honda” and video sessions with composer Joe Hisaishi, producer Toshio Suzuki and supervising animator Takeshi Honda.
In other 4K Ultra HD release news from Shout! Studios this past week, July 2 will be the release date for the 35th anniversary edition of writer/director Jay Levey’s outrageous comedy, UHF, starring “Weird Al” Yankovic as the unshakable George Newman, who finds his dream job in running the bankrupt UHF 62 Channel.
This is a new 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negative.
Bonus features include commentary from Yankovic and Levey, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage and the 2014 Comic-Con Retrospective Panel.
