Arrow Video, with domestic sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has a double feature 4K Ultra HD ready for action and fantasy fans to enjoy on Aug. 13.
Titled When Titans Ruled the Earth, this double-disc double feature includes director Louis Leterrier’s 2010 film release of Clash of the Titans and filmmaker Jonathan Liebesman’s 2012 follow-up, Wrath of the Titans, both starring Sam Worthington (Avatar: The Way of Water, Hacksaw Ridge) as Perseus, the son of Zeus (played by Liam Neeson).
This is kind of cool having both films as a collection, especially so as these are genre fan delights, which the mainline critics tended to pan … combined the pair did close to $800 million in box office receipts, so critics be damned!
As to bonus goodies, let’s begin with Clash of the Titans.
There are deleted scenes, an alternate ending and a newly prepared video session with producer Basil Iwanyk titled “Scaling Mount Olympus.” Additionally, there are nine featurettes — “Sam Worthington is Perseus,” “Zeus: Father of Gods and Men,” “Enter the World of Hades,” “Calibos: The Man Behind the Monster,” “Tenerife: A Continent on an Island,” “Scorpioch,” “Actors and Their Stunts,” “Wales: A Beautiful Scarred Landscape,” “Bringing Medusa to Life,” “Prepare for the Kraken!” and “Sam Worthington: An Action Hero for the Ages.”
The second feature, Wrath of the Titans, includes deleted scenes as the newly minted video session with producer Basil Iwanyk titled “Unleashing the Beasts.”
There are also a whopping ten production featurettes included with this 4K Ultra HD release — “Who Are the Titans?,” “Hephaestus: God of Fire,” “Lost in Tartarus’ Labyrinth,” “Creatures of the Titans,” “Path of Men,” “Battling the Chimera,” “Agenor: The Other Demi-God,” “The Cyclops Fight,” “Prison of the Titans,” “Minotaur: The Human Nightmare” and “The Heavens Raise Hell on Earth.”
