Kino Lorber has place
both DVD and Blu-ray editions of 35MM film restorations (Library of Congress
source material) of two of screen icon Bette Davis’ early works for delivery to
collectors on June 18.
Director Howard Higgin’s
1932 social commentary, Hell’s House, teams Bette Davis with
Pat O’Brien, plus young thespians Junior Durkin (who died in an auto accident
three years after making this film) and Frank Coghlan Jr. (perhaps best
remembered as Billy Batson in The Adventures of Captain Marvel).
The second Bette Davis
film making its way to Blu-ray is director John Cromwell’s 1934 film adaptation
of the W. Somerset Maugham’s novel, Of Human Bondage.
