Bad Brains off and on
legendary frontman, Paul “HR” Hudson, is the subject of documentary filmmaker James
Lathos’ Finding Joseph I: The H.R. from Bad Brains
Documentary. MVD Entertainment
Group will be guiding the DVD release to market on Friday, Nov. 3.
Through interviews with
Hudson as well as HR’s fellow musicians and contemporaries, Lathos is able to
piece the picture of a complicated artist, who freely ranges between “hardcore”
punk rock and reggae (as a solo artist, HR Human Rights).
Interview sessions
include the likes of Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye, Fishbone's Angelo Moore, guitarist Vernon
Reid of Living Colour, Madonna’s manager and Maverick Records chairman, Guy
Oseary and both Hudson’s brother, Earl Hudson (the drummer for Bad Brains) and
Hudson’s wife, and in many ways his savior, Lori.
This award-winning
documentary (Best Documentary Feature – Philadelphia Independent Film Festival;
Grand Jury Prize Best Documentary – San Francisco Independent Film Festival,
etc.) is a must for music fans, especially fans of Paul “HR” Hudson and Bad
Brains.
