CJ (Eric Swader) and Nina
(Katie Maloney) are heading for a big breakup, but they’ve decided to put that
on hold for one more evening to attend an impromptu going-away party for their
friends Eric (Vincent Bombara) and Sophie (Dawnelle Jewell). In retrospective, they should have split up,
skipped the party and gone their separate ways … survival might have been
easier!
Lost Empire Films, with
sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, announced
this past week that writer/director Mark Cantu’s sci-fi thriller, Night
Zero, will be making its DVD debut on May 22.
No sooner do CJ and Nina
hook up with their friends, who are joined by one other couple — Danny (Umar
Faraz) and Monica (Monisha Schwartz) — when it appears that world is about to
end! Something big is happening and it
is a little tough for the three couples to sort out — from the news
reports — exactly what is happening, but
it’s bad … real bad.
Filmmaker Mark Cantu
(Elite) has constructed a claustrophobic tale that is one part haunted-house
thriller (things that go bump in the night), one part alien invasion (from what
they can piece together) and one part zombie plague (perhaps the aftermath of
an attempt to fight off the invaders).
In any case our six “friends” are in for one hell of a night … band
together, fight, kill or die!
What about tomorrow? Cantu’s Night Zero doesn’t worry about such
things, nor would you if you were just trying to survive the night … tomorrow,
that’s another story!
