Cosmo Topper doubles up
on Nov. 13 as VCI Entertainment readies the two classic film sequels, Topper
Takes a Trip and Topper Returns, for their Blu-ray
rollout on that mid-November date.
VCI released the original
Topper
(1937), starring Cary Grant, Constance Bennett, Billie Burke and Roland Young
on Blu-ray in August of 2017 and now the fun returns with the long-await
follow-ups on Blu-ray.
Topper Takes a Trip was the 1938 sequel, once again featuring
Constance Bennett as Marion Kerby and Roland Young as Cosmo, with Billie Burke
as his wife. Cary Grant bowed out (his
career was in full blossom at this point).
The next film in the
series, which was released in the spring of 1941, saw the return of Roland
Young and Billie Burke as Cosmo and Clara Topper in Topper Returns. This time out a murder victim — played by
Joan Blondell — seeks out Topper to solve the mystery of her death. Her friend, played by none other than Carole
Landis, could be the next victim!
