One good turn deserves
another. And one musical hit spawns
another … it took ten years, but they are back — Donna, Sophie, Tanya, Rosie
and of course Sam, Bill and Harry — in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!
Universal Pictures Home
Entertainment made it official this past week, the home entertainment rollout
will take place on Oct. 23. Or, should
we say, the big commences on Oct. 23!
The ARR works out to 95
days and multiplex receipts hummed to the tune of $118.1 million. The original,
back in the summer of 2008, pulled in $143.7 million, so a hit is a hit … even
ten years later!!!
As to SKU configuration,
Universal is offering up a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack, a Blu-ray/DVD Combo
Pack and a DVD edition … and both Target and Best Buy special editions.
Bonus features common to
all SKU configurations include two commentary options — one featuring
writer/director Ol Parker (screenwriter of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and The
Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and the second is with film producer
Judy Craymer. Plus there are deleted
songs and scenes (with commentary by Parker), ten “enhanced sing-alongs” and a
half-dozen production featurettes — “The Story,” “Mamma Mia! Reunited,” “Playing
Donna,” “Meeting Cher,” “Costumes and The Dynamos” and “Curtain Call.”
Exclusive to the 4K Ultra
HD and Blu-ray editions are eight additional “enhanced sing-alongs,” five
additional featurettes — “Sophie's Story,” “Choreographing Mamma Mia! Here
We Go Again,” “Dancing Queen: Anatomy of a Scene,” “Performing for Legends” and
“Class of '79” — plus “Cast Meets Cast” and “Cast Chats” videos.
