Universal Pictures Home
Entertainment has selected Jan. 15 as the home entertainment rollout date for
director David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween sequel to the original
1978 John Carpenter Halloween … anything that happened in the other nine films in
the series was ignored for the release of this anniversary/event film.
Purests might be howling to the moon over the affront, but when you pull in $158.8 million in ticket sales it just doesn’t matter … a hit is a hit is a hit! And, remember, Rob Zombie re-envisioned Halloween in 2007 and followed up with a sequel in 2009, so get move on.
The ARR works out to just
88 days and Universal will be releasing three different SKU configurations on
Jan. 15 — DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack
editions.
As to bonus features for
this Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) versus Michael Myers horror tale, there
are deleted and extended scenes and five production featurettes — “Back in
Haddonfield: Making Halloween,” “The Original Scream Queen,” “The Sound of
Fear,” “Journey of the Mask” and “The Legacy of Halloween.”
