There are some films that
are so much fun that they take on a life of their own. You can call them guilty pleasures (or sinful
pleasures as the case might be), but whether good or bad, they develop a cult
following and are loved, cherished and watched again and again.
Cleopatra Music and Film,
with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group,
announced this week that documentary filmmaker Lisa Downs’ labor of love, Life
After Flash, will be available on Mar. 26 as both DVD and Blu-ray
product offerings.
Whether you are a fan of
director Mike Hodges’ Christmas of 1980 sci-fi adventure, Flash Gordon, or not,
Downs’ love for the subject and the work that she has put into her story about
the film and the film’s star, Sam J. Jones, is so wonderfully done that you
need to take a look-see come Mar. 26.
You could be a fan of
Queen — they did the soundtrack — 18 cuts of Queen is more than enough reason
to watch Flash Gordon and then Life After Flash … Brian May even
joined in the festivities and is interviewed by Lisa Downs.
And then there is the
world of cinema and Jones’ story, which shows the highs and lows of the
business … and the horrible things that can happen to a career if you pick a
fight with someone above your weight class.
Interviews galore,
details about a cult favorite and put together with style and panache … Life
After Flash completely captures the spirit of the film and fans who
adore it.
Bonus nuggets include
behind-the-scenes footage and video sessions with the cast and crew.
