Documentary filmmaker Danny Garcia, who has examined
the music careers of The Clash, Johnny Thunders and Sid Vicious, turns his
focus on Brian Jones and the Rolling Stones with the June 12 DVD debut of Rolling
Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones from
MVD Entertainment Group.
The year was 1969 and the Rolling Stones were on the
eve of their legendary “American Tour 1969,” which saw a series of smash
concerts, the Muscle Shoals recordings and Altamont. It was
nothing short of legendary.
1969 also was witness to the death of one of the
original members, Brian Jones, who drowned — under mysterious circumstances —
in July of that year. It had already
been determined, because of legal issues, that he would not be able to make the
tour.
Garcia covers his life, his seven years as a Rolling
Stone — the drugs and drinking that destroyed his career — and his untimely
death. Vintage footage, interviews and
more are included in filmmaker Danny Garcia’s insightful production of Rolling
Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones.
Bonus features include deleted scenes, a “Behind the
Scenes” featurette and the featurette titled “Scott Jones Files.”
