Wolfe announced this past week that writer/director
Wendy Jo Carlton’s Good Kisser will
be making the transition from the film festival circuit to the home
entertainment marketplace on June 16.
The film began working the circuit last September,
with screenings at the Long Beach QFilm, Cinema Diverse in Palm Springs,
Sarasota’s Fabulous Indie … and then jumped out internationally with European screening
dates. With the Covid-19 lockdowns
those public screening options are no long an option. So the DVD move makes quite a bit of sense
for Wolfe and filmmaker Wendy Jo Carlton.
Kate (Rachel Paulson — Fixer,
Heartland) and Jenna (Kari Alison Hodge — The
Arrangement, Get Close, Darling Nikki)
have been a couple going on two years, with Kate into the trappings of style and
“things,” while Jenna is more along the lines of a milquetoast, insecure …
unsure.
That dynamic has reached its limits, it is time to move
forward or part company … that’s where this day-in-the-life of Kate and Jenna
begins in Carlton’s Good Kisser. The
solution, an evening of fun with an invited guest, Mia (Julia Eringer — Fox Trap,
The Black Water Vampire) … on the surface,
perhaps an erotic adventure to spice things up, but, as it is sometimes said,
“the game is afoot.”
From the get-go Jenna is unsure of Kate’s plan, but
Mia is a force of nature, sexual, pleasing and charming. Throw in some dancing, a few drinks and
intimacy and you can see how such an arrangement might be very enjoyable.
But filmmaker Wendy Jo Carlton (Easy
Abby, Hannah Free, Brushfires) has
delivered more than just an erotic evening with three attractive individuals … that
would have been the easy road. Instead,
the complexities of relationships, the games of power, reality and insecurities
are touched upon during the course of the evening … and nothing will ever be
the same.
Bonus features include video sessions with Julia
Eringer, Kari Alison Hodge and Rachel Paulson.
