Mill Creek Entertainment Prepares The DVD Debut Of Director Patrick Rea's I Am Lisa For Release On Mar. 16

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Mill Creek Entertainment has tabbed Mar. 16 as the DVD debut date for director Patrick Rea’s werewolf/revenge thriller, I Am Lisa.

Award-winning filmmaker Patrick Rea is no stranger to the genre scene and has had his share of horror films, ranging from Arbor Demon and Monster X to Nailbiter and his contribution to the anthology release of The Invoking 2 … and certainly the werewolf/lycanthrope category of horror tales has seen its share of cinematic tales.

So, how do you do something a little different to spice things up?  A werewolf running around attacking people only goes so far.   No problem, we are introduced to Lisa (Kristen Vaganos — Dating After College, Wedding Screeners, The Christmas Dance, My Perfect Woman), who runs a used book store that she inherited from her grandmother … she grew up in the area, went off to college and now she’s back.   She’s a bit of nerd.

Now Lisa’s only real friend is “Sam” (Jennifer Seward), who is wise in the ways of the occult, which is easily dismissed by Lisa as being silly.   That little bit of foreshadowing will come back full circle, as does the fact that there is a wolf population on the outskirts of town (Lisa almost ran one over one evening).

After a few encounters with Jessica, and her little troupe of tormentors, Lisa gets pushed too far and goes to the police to report an assault.  Well, that was a mistake.

The local sheriff is none other than Sheriff Deborah 'Deb' Huckins (Manon Halliburton), who just happens to be Jessica’s mom.   Oh my, does she throw a mean right hook … POW, down goes Lisa.   Deb’s son, is her also Deputy Nick (Chris Bylsma), who takes care of business and dumps Lisa in the woods to die.   Lesson learned, don’t rat-out Jessica to her mom.

Harken back to the wolf that Lisa didn’t run over.  He bites her, but the pack doesn’t finish the job, instead our little book worm is now blessed with the powers of a lycanthrope and her vegetarian ways are about to be cast aside in favor of munching on members of the Huckins family.

Patrick Rea’s I Am Lisa, on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment on Mar. 16, is a nice twist on your standard werewolf carnage tale.

As to bonus goodies, filmmaker Patrick Rae provides commentary and is joined by Kristen Vaganos and writer/producer Eric Winkler, plus there is a deleted scene and a “Visual F/X Reel.”
