Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just added an anniversary celebration to its 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack release calendar with news this past week that director J. Lee Thompson’s 1961 film adaptation of Alistair MacLean’s 1957 World War II thriller, The Guns of Navarone, will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary on Oct. 12.
This Best Picture nominee (losing out to West Side Story) is getting a new 4K film restoration from the original camera negative.
The release will be a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack, with the vintage bonus features included on the Blu-ray disc. Counted among these goodies are commentary by J. Lee Thompson, a second commentary option by film historian Stephen J. Rubin and a collection of vintage featurettes.
