Gunpowder & Sky announced this past week that a new 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack edition of the cat-and-mouse thriller, Summer of 84, will be available for genre fans to enjoy on Nov. 30.
Team-directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell, we get a twisted tale involving a highly-imaginative 15-year-old teen by the name of Davey Armstrong (Graham Verchere — as Nathan Burgle in the Fargo TV series), who has a paper route, hangs out with an odd assortment of friends, spies on his former babysitter, Nikki (Tiera Skovbye — Midnight Sun, The Miracle Season, Prodigals) and is convinced that his next door neighbor is the Cape May Slayer, a serial killer who has kidnapped and murdered over a dozen boys.
There’s just one problem with Davey’s crazy theory … his next door neighbor is Wayne Mackey (Rich Sommer), a decorated police officer.
The clues pile up, Davey even convinces his friends of the possibility and Nikki joins the investigation. It’s like a stumble-bum hunt for clues that finally gets the crew the courage to break into Mackey’s house and see for themselves what goes on in there.
Davey should have stuck to delivering papers!! He gets a first-hand visit to Mackey’s private island, but in a twist ending, survives (but for how long).
Bonus features include commentary from filmmakers Francois Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell, a blooper reel and newly-prepared video sessions with cinematographer and composer Jean-Philippe Bernier and the trio of directors.
