Bayview Entertainment has tabbed Jan. 25 for the DVD debut of writer/director Joshua Nelson’s creepy horror anthology, Triaphilia.

In the best tradition of the classic Amicus Productions of 1970s (Tales from the Crypt, Asylum, etc.), Nelson’s Triaphilia serves up a trio of stories that center around an old curio shop by the name of The Anointed Cherub, which is run by a “kindly” proprietor (Kenny Ledee — who starred as Antonio in Nelson’s Psycho-Therapy) who seems to know exactly what each customer needs in the way of a “special” purchase.

As with the proprietor of the shop, filmmaker Joshua Nelson uses a group of regular actors for his films, many of which are counted among the players here.

In the first story, “The Demon,” a happy guy by the name of Sal (Rink Patel — Psycho-Therapy) wants to impress the parents of his fiancée, Karen (Katie Raulerson — as Carol in Nelson’s Orderly Disorders), but she has other ideas and ends up getting what she wants, an antique mirror with very unique properties.

As might be expected, it does not go well for all involved, especially happy-go-lucky Sal!!

In the next story, titled “The Woman Scorned,” three young women, Bonnie (Ashley Laessig — Psycho-Therapy), Ruby (Mary Zaroura — Psycho-Therapy), and Jeanine (Julia Wyrzuc — Orderly Disorders), happen into The Anointed Cherub looking for something different for Halloween.   Of course, our host has the perfect gift, an urn containing the ashes of a serial killer.

Before you can say “antiquities,” Martha (Esra Ozgun) suddenly appears with a machete in hand looking for her dead “soul mate” … ah ha, she’s found him and will slice-and-dice her way through the women who now possess him.   Yuck!

The final story in Triaphilia from Bayview Entertainment on Jan. 25 is titled, “Franklin.”   Into the shop go Ronnie (Saniye Reyhan — Psycho-Therapy) and Zoe (Chelsea Rose Barreto— Psycho-Therapy), who are on a sad mission.   Their friend, Franklin has died and his mother, Susan (Jean Nobile — from Nelson’s What's Bothering You?), wants a trunk to store her dead son’s belonging … she is having a difficult time letting him go.

Mission accomplished, it seems our retail mystic has just the thing they need.   Once back at Susan’s place, Ronnie and Zoe will soon be wishing that they had never visited The Anointed Cherub!
