Severin Films, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has a double-disc helping of vintage horror lined up for the New Year!!

This would be the Jan. 25 Blu-ray special edition release of writer/director Joseph Ellison’s 1980 grimly brutal horror tale, Don’t Go in the House.   This is a new 2K film scan from the original camera negative … which includes a bonus presentation of the “TV Version,” which was titled The Burning.

Donny Kohler (Dan Grimaldi — as Patsy Parisi in The Sopranos television series) is sick.  Twisted.  Insane.  He got that way because dear old mom like to torture him as a kid by holding his arms over the burner on the stove any time he was “bad.”   Judging from the scar tissue, he must have been one bad boy.

After a trying day at work — an industrial accident — Donny returns home to make some tea for his mom, only to discover that she has died.   That’s the trigger … he is now free of her and can now do things that have been building up for some time.   You know, like talking Kathy (Johanna Brushay), the local florist, into coming home with flowers for his “ailing” mother.

How sweet, but before you know it, she is naked and hanging by chains from the ceiling in Donny’s “special” room.   He sets her ablaze and then when things have cooled-down he carries her crispy remains to be with his mother, even dressing her in some of his mother’s clothes.

Our boy is just getting “warmed” up … before long he has a whole room full of new friends.   Yes, Donny is one sick fellow!!

Bonus features include commentary on the theatrical release version from author Stephen Thrower (“Of Nightmare U.S.A.”), plus two featurettes — “Minds on Fire” and “Burn Baby, Burn.”

The television cut of the film features commentary from director Joe Ellison, who is joined by producer Ellen Hammill, plus there is an archival commentary with actor Dan Grimaldi.   The Burning cut also includes a trio of featurettes — “House,” “We Want in the House!” and “Playing with Fire.”
