MVD Entertainment Group will be teaming up with English Electric Recordings on Dec. 09 for the Blu-ray/2 CD Combo Pack release of Big Big Train: Summer Shall Not Fade.

Formed way back in 1990 (and even before that if you want to get technical … in terms of name, but no so much the band mix), England’s Big Big Train, fronted by Gregory Spawton, released its first album, the self-produced and distributed, “From the River to the Sea,” in 1992 and that might have been the end of it … one and done.

But they just kept working … touring, playing their music and building a fan-base.   Another below-the-radar offering surfaced the following year and that one caught the attention of a record label and Big Big Train’s first “real” album, “Goodbye to the Age of Steam” hit the streets.

Spawton as lead guitar, Martin Read for the vocals, Andy Poole was the bassman, Steve Hughes on drums and Big Big Train was rounded out by Ian Cooper on the keyboards (he would soon depart, replaced by Tony Müller) … and over the years, members would come and go.

In January of this year, they released their 14th album … to celebrate, Big Big Train: Summer Shall Not Fade, will be released on Blu-ray.   This is the 13-song set recorded live in 2018 at the Night of the Prog Festival in Lorely, Germany on July 13th.

Clocking in at 130-minutes, fans can enjoy from the “English Electric” albums (parts one and two) “The First Rebreather,” “Judas Unrepentant,” “The Permanent Way” and “East Coast Racer;” from the 2016 “Folklore” album such delights as the title track, “Folklore,” “The Transit of Venus Across the Sun” and “Wassail” … and from the 2017 follow-up, “Grimspound,” the likes of “Brave Captain” and “A Mead Hall in Winter.”

Also included in the live-set are the classic “Kingmaker” (originally from aforementioned self-distributed second album “Infant Hercules” … reworked over the years) and “Summer’s Lease” (from “The Difference Machine” album).

As a bonus, a double-CD of the concert is included with the Blu-ray release on Dec. 09.
