Restored Fear In The Night On DVD From The Film Chest On Aug. 26

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Film Chest revealed its newest film restoration project this past week and it’s a good one.   It is director Maxwell Shane’s 1947 film noir gem, Fear in the Night, which will be available as a restored DVD edition on Aug. 26 (collectors can toss those old editions in the trash and without breaking the bank can replace them with this Film Chest restoration … priced at just $11.98).

Noted for the film debut of future Star Trek icon, DeForest Kelley, who stars as Vince, a milquetoast bank employee who dreams that he’s stabbed a man to death … only to awaken from his “dream” to find himself bruised and, yes, there is blood.

His brother-in-law (played by Paul Kelly) is a police detective, who ends up being Vince’s “guardian angel” (not once, but twice!) as he unravels the mystery only to find that Vince really did it … ah ha, but’s a there a twist!!

Ann Doran, Kay Scott and Robert Emmett Keane round out the cast.
