Synergetic
Distribution, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD
Entertainment Group, will be delivering two Europe-based horror tales to the
domestic marketplace on DVD this coming Dec. 12.
First up
is from Ireland is Brackenmore from the directing team of Chris Kemble and J.P. Davidson.
Kate (Sophie
Hopkins) is a transplaneted Irish lass living in London. Her parents were killed in a auto accident
when she with as a kid and she’s all but forgotten about her roots in the Irish
town of Brackenmore. But that all
changes when she receives word that her uncle has died and left her property
and so off she goes to Brackenmore.
This
tale of horror spins on the conceit that what should be familiar — Kate is,
afterall, a child born of Brankenmore — is suddenly alien, mysterious and
down-right creepy. Once she arrives,
she is treated as an outcast, shunned and left to ponder what role her uncle
played within this tight-knit community.
The only
decent resident is a lad her age named Tom (D.J. McGrath), who befriends her
and tries to help her sort things out.
But the mystery surrounding her “birthright” is a sinister force that
slowly, like the mist upon the moors, creeps in and takes hold. Even the good-natured Tom is not all that he
seems.
Next up
on Dec. 12 from Synergetic Distribution is German filmmaker Mathieu Seiler’s True
Love Ways.
Tom (Kai
Michael Müller) is having a difficult time with his girlfriend Séverine (Anna
Hausburg) these days, as she is having very distrubing dreams and tells him
that she needs a little time to herself to sort things out. He suspects that this is simply code from
her and that he is being kicked to the curb.
Desperate
to hold onto to her — and just dumb enough — he goes for a kidnapping scheme
proposed by a total stranger with the moniker of “Chef” (David C. Bunners) in
the local bar one evening. Séverine
will be abducted and Tom can play hero … it will be a lot of fun.
There’s
just one tiny little detail left out.
Chef is actually an underground preveyor of torture and snuff cinematic
treats — for a certain clientele with tastes for such things — and one look at
the drop-dead georgeous Séverine gets his “creative” juices flowing. Oh the things he can do to her … she’ll be
star!
True Love Ways is presented in German with
English subtitle.
