At first blush you had to
ask yourself why? Why remake Agatha
Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express?
The 1974 Sidney Lumet version was excellent, complete with an all-star
cast (Ingrid Bergman even won her third Oscar … Best Supporting Actress) wrapped
in a terrific whodunit.
And then it sort of dawns
on you, that was an all-star cast of 40 years ago, so why not a remake?
The next question that
had to enter your mind if you are a fan of the original, who is going to direct
it and let’s hope that whoever it is … they don’t screw it up!
We can safely report that
actor/director Kenneth Branagh nailed, not only as the director of this film
adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1934 mystery novel, but as Hercule Poirot!!!
