With their usual burst of
enthusiasm that ranges between ho-hum and don’t bother me, Lionsgate Home
Entertainment announced this past week that writer/director Stephen Chbosky’s
feel-good film adaptation of the R.J. Palacio (aka: Raquel Jaramillo) best-selling
novel, Wonder, will be heading to retail outlets on Feb. 13 as a
three-SKU helping of home entertainment delights.
The ARR is a
quick-to-market 88 days and ticket sales were a tasty $126.6 million.
Jack Tremblay (Room,
The
Book of Henry) steals everyone’s heart as Auggie, the disfigured fifth
grader and even though Liongate Home Entertainment is putting little effort
into the DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack launch,
Wonder
will do just fine on its own … it’s a winner.
Bonus goodies common to
all SKU configurations include commentary from filmmaker Stephen Chbosky (The
Perks of Being a Wallflower), who joined by author R.J. Palacio. There is also a featurette titled “Wonder
Soundtrack: Behind-the-Scenes” and the Bea Miller music video titled “Brand New
Eyes.”
Exclusive to the Blu-ray
and 4K Ultra HD SKUs are the five-part documentary titled Summer of Fun (composed
of five featurettes) and two additional production featurettes — “A Child’s
Sense of Wonder” and “What a Wonderful World.”
