DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
The third installment in the E.L. James (aka: Erika Mitchell) best-selling trilogy of “romance” novels, Fifty Shades Freed, will be heading home on May 8 as DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack selections courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The ARR is a quick-to-market 88 days and multiplex receipts were a toasty $95.7 million … bringing the total domestic box office tally to over $376 million.

Under James Foley’s direction Jamie Dornan returns as Christian, with Dakota Johnson starring as Ana … an all too familiar menace, Jack Hyde (played by Eric Johnson), takes things to an all new level in this finale to the series.

Bonus features include two viewing options — R-rated and unrated (clocking in at an extra fives minutes) — a deleted scene and a whopping eleven production featurettes — “The Final Climax,” “The Wedding,” “Honeymoon,” “Mr. & Mrs. Grey,” “Ana Takes Charge,” “Ana & Mr. Hyde,” “Aspen in Whistler,” “Ana's Revelation,” “Resolution,” “The Meaning of Freed” and “Christian & Ana By Jamie & Dakota.”

Not done yet … exclusive to the Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD SKUs are an additional featurette, “An Intimate Conversation with E.L. James and Eric Johnson, and a trio of music videos — Liam Payne & Rita Ora’s “For You (Fifty Shades Freed),” Hailee Steinfeld & BloodPop deliver “Capital Letters” and Julia Michaels’ presents “Heaven.”
