You are invited to spend
the night with director Joe Nussbaum and his girls versus girls scavenger hunt
in the newest Marquee Collection addition, Sleepover.
The Blu-ray debut of this
summer of 2004 teenage comedy will take place on Dec. 11.
It’s the last day of
middle school — the big move to high school awaits — and Julie (played by Spy
Kids’ star Alexa Vega) and her eighth grade sidekicks, Yancy (Kallie
Flynn Childress), Farrah (Scout Taylor-Compton — as Laurie in the 2007 Halloween
re-boot, plus Halloween II, Cynthia, Ghost House, etc.) and Hannah
(Mika Boorem — The Patriot, Along Came a Spider, Blue Crush, etc.) get
caught-up in a challenge from her former childhood friend, Staci (Sara Paxton —
Aquamarine,
Sydney White, The Last House on the Left) that could define their high
school years.
It’s a scavenger hunt,
the winning team gets the prime lunchtime spot in high school, while the losers
are banned to the outcast area where the “losers” dine (next to the dumpsters,
which of course is symbolic for who they are … losers). Staci has her gang, the eighth grade mean
girls, and Julie has her go-to friends, but there’s just one little problem,
she’s grounded … can’t leave the house when mom and dad are not home (played by
(Jeff Garlin and four-time Emmy-winner, Jane Lynch — Glee, Hollywood
Game Night, Dropping the Soap, etc.).
With such a challenge and
the ultimate prize of high school popularity on the line, Julie is willing to
risk it! Game on!!
Sleepover is a girl’s flick for girls … and it has a cast
that have gone on to amass fans for their collective work in the past 14 years,
which makes the film a guilty pleasure for many.
Bonus features include
commentary from director Joe Nussbaum (Sydney White), who is joined by
cast members Alexa Vega, Scout Taylor-Compton, Mika Boorem and Kallie Flynn
Childress, plus there are four featurettes — “A Guide to the Perfect Sleepover,”
“Meet the Girls,” “Ready, Set, Action!” and “Sleepover Confessions.”
Also included as bonus
goodies are a gag reel, a wrap party reel and an extensive behind-the-scenes
photo gallery.
