Paramount Home Media Targets July 9 For The Release Of The Directing Team Of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s Pet Sematary

2019 will be a vintage year for writer Stephen King, especially in the home entertainment marketplace.   The latest arrival is that of the directing team of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s 30th Anniversary remake of Stephen King’s 1983 novel, Pet Sematary.

Paramount Home Media announced this past week that the April theatrical release of Pet Sematary will be departing from its multiplex venues for the home entertainment package media arena on July 9.    The ARR for that early July street date works out to an industry-average of 95 days … box office receipts came in at $54.5 million.

Planned for release are Combo Pack editions for both the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) and Blu-ray (with DVD) formats, plus there will be a stand-alone DVD edition.

In addition to this 2019 film version of Pet Sematary being released as a 4K Ultra HD edition, Paramount also served up director Mary Lambert’s original Pet Sematary in March of this year as a new 4K Ultra HD product offering as well … and both Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, in recent days, have gone to their respective film vaults for the release of 4K Ultra HD editions of Stand by Me (Aug. 27) and The Shining (Oct. 1).   And, of course, fans King are eagerly awaiting the two theatrical releases from Warner Bros. — It Chapter Two on Sept. 6 and Doctor Sleep on Nov. 8.

There are two featurettes — “The Tale of Timmy Baterman” and “Beyond the Deadfall” — and the four-part production diary — “Chapter One: Resurrection,” “Chapter Two: The Final Resting Place,” “Chapter Three: The Road to Sorrow” and “Chapter Four: Death Comes Home.”

In other release news from Paramount Home Media this past week, you can mark July 16 down on your viewing calendar as the street date for Criminal Minds: The Fourteenth Season.

New member of the team — Daniel Henney as Matt Simmons — parts stuffed in suitcases in Naples, Florida and some gruesome goings in Detroit are just a few of the twists and turns in the latest full season of Criminal Minds.
