Bayview Entertainment has selected Jan. 28 as the
DVD debut date for director, producer and actor, Iyad Hajjaj’s
ripped-from-the-headlines tale of human trafficking, Dreams I
Never Had.
The film worked the festival circuit beginning in
2017 and pulled in win after win after win, including Best Picture laurels at Lucky
Strike Film Festival, San Pedro International Film Festival, WIND International
Film Festival and more. The
availability on DVD can’t come soon enough for those who didn’t get a chance to
catch one of the festival screenings.
Layla (Fidelia Grace — My Killer
Client, Breaking Legs), a teenager, has been bought
and paid for. Smuggled into the United
States as a household servent, she finds herself forced to work for Sam Sahal
(Iyad Hajjaj — Refuge, Sicko!) and
his wife Suzanne (Golsa Sarabi) 12 hours a day and then locked up in a small
room … day after day. No escape, no
friends.
One day, an illegal day laborer by the name of Emilo
(Manuel Domenech — Triangles, White Paint, This Small Town) befriends
her and learns of her plight and a plot is hatched to free her. Will they succeed before Layla outlives her
usefulness as a domestic and is bartered off to sex traffickers … tick tock,
tick tock.
Robin Givens and Malcolm McDowell co-star.
Also on the Jan. 28 DVD release calendar from
Bayview Entertainment is director Darko Perovic’s 1998 animated feature, The
Legend of Mulan, which is making its way to the
kidvid marketplace in time to take advantage of the March 2020 rollout of
Disney’s live-action Mulan film
starring Yifei Liu.
