Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has
capitulated, given up … just get it out; be done with it. We are talking about director Craig Zobel’s The Hunt,
which will be heading home on June 9 as a two-SKU home entertainment packaged
media product offering.
The ARR comes in at 88 days. Planned for release are DVD and Blu-ray/DVD
Combo Pack editions.
First, The Hunt was
pulled from its original theatrical release last year over being tone-deaf,
then it was resurrected for a theatrical release once again on Mar. 13 and
damn, one week and done as once again it was pulled, this time it was the
coronavirus and the shuttering of 40,000 screens nationwide. Talk about a $14 million film production
that was snake-bit from the get-go, whew, that’s costly.
Bonus features include a trio of featurettes — “Crafting
The Hunt,” “Death Scene Breakdowns” and “Athena vs. Crystal: Hunter or Hunted?”
In other release news from Universal Pictures Home
Entertainment, June 2 will be the street date for a new 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray
Combo Pack edition of director Steven Spielberg’s 1975 film classic, Jaws.
Bonus goodies include deleted scenes, outtakes, and
a trio of featurettes (in addition vintage material, which can be found on the
accompanying Blu-ray) — “The Making of Jaws,” “The Shark Is Still Working: The
Impact & Legacy of Jaws” and “From the Set.”
