Mill Creek Entertainment's Four-Film DVD Promotion Arrives On Jan. 19

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Mill Creek Entertainment already has in place in January a six-disc Blu-ray collection of Ultraman Taro: The Complete Series (Jan. 12), four new additions to it popular “VHS Retro Blu-ray” line products — Blind Fury, Crossroads, The Freshman and Like Father Like Son (also on Jan. 12) — and Blu-ray debuts for both Accepted and Your Highness (Jan. 19), so that’s it for the month, right?   Wrong!!

Before we move on to the month of February, word arrived this past week that two new priced-to-collect DVD multi-film sets will be also heading home during the month of January as well.

Heading home on Jan. 19, and carrying a suggested retail price point of just $14.99 (and that’s before discounts being offered by retailers), is the double-disc, four-film collection titled 4 All-Star Thrillers.

Included in the mix are director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 2003 thriller, 21 Grams (with Sean Penn and co-stars Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro, who were both nominated for acting Oscars), director Billy Ray’s 2007 spy thriller, Breach (with Chris Cooper), filmmaker Anton Corbijn’s 2010 assassin-for-hire tale, The American (starring George Clooney) and director Fernando Meirelles’ 2005 murder mystery, The Constant Gardener (teaming Ralph Fiennes with Rachel Weisz … she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance here).

The other double-disc, four-film DVD collection from Mill Creek Entertainment on Jan. 19 is titled simply, 4 Comedy Favorites.

Included in this collection are Anthony and Joe Russo’s 2006 hit, You, Me and Dupree (featuring Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon), director Michael Lehmann’s 2007 romantic comedy, Because I Said So (with Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton), The Wedding Date, starring Delmot Mulroney, Debra Messing and Amy Adams) and director Mark Waters’ 2001 comedy, Head Over Heels (with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter).
