Writer/Director Dimitri Logotheis' Jiu Jitsu DVD Debut From Paramount Home Media On Dec. 22

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Paramount Home Media announced this past week that it will handling the domestic DVD distribution of The Avenue Entertainment sci-fi film release from writer/director Dimitri Logotheis.   Titled Jiu Jitsu, the DVD release (with Digital Copy) — after a brief theatrical run — will be on Dec. 22.

Every six years a silent war takes place between a vicious, hi-tech alien called Brax (played by veteran stuntman Ryan Tarran) and a group of humans, with the fate of the planet at stake.   During the current cycle, Brax is to face an elite martial arts fighter by the name of Jake Barnes (played by actor/stuntman Alain Moussi — Wings of the Dragon, Kickboxer: Vengeance, Kickboxer: Retaliation), but we soon discover that Barnes isn’t up to it … he has amnesia and is incapable of fighting his alien adversary.

That’s it for dear old Earth, unless … yes, unless a secret order of Jiu Jitsu fighters, headed by the mysterious and reclusive Wylie (Nicholas Cage) can re-train Barnes and his outmatched squad in time to take down Brax and save the planet.   Otherwise, Wylie’s best advice to Barnes is to “die with honor” and perhaps Brax will be satisfied until the next cycle.
