With the new theatrical release market in shambles, it is a rare thing indeed (these days) when a film pulls in over $25 million at the box office. We have one this week making the transition from theatrical venues to the home entertainment package media marketplace … this news is cause for cheer!!
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has tabbed Feb. 23 as the street date for a three-SKU helping of director Joel Crawford’s The Croods; A New Age. The date has been floating around for a few weeks now, but Universal finally made it official … Combo Pack editions for the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) and Blu-ray (with DVD) formats, plus a stand-alone DVD edition will be available for consumers to select from.
The ARR works out to 88 days and domestic ticket sales currently stand at $43.9 million.
Bonus features include commentary from director Joel Crawford (his directing debut … previously a storyboard artist on such films as Trolls, Kung Fu Panda 3, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, etc.), who is joined by producer Mark Swift, editor Jim Ryan and storyboard artist Januel Mercado.
Additional bonus nuggets include a gag reel, deleted scenes, five featurettes and a pair of animated short films — Dear Diary: World’s First Pranks and Family Movie Night: Little Red Bronana Bread.
