Mill Creek Entertainment Preps The DVD Debut Of Director Justin G. Dyck's Romance In The Wilds For Oct. 05

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Mill Creek Entertainment has tabbed Oct. 5 as the DVD debut date for director Justin G. Dyck’s edge-of-your-seat romantic thriller, Romance in the Wilds.

This Dove-Approved film introduces us to Jessica Alaway (Kaitlyn Leeb — as Cassandra Lee in the Heartland TV series, plus such films as Wolves, Christmas with a View, Anything for Jackson, etc.), a geologist, who is working alone on research in the wilderness with her only companion being her dog Charlie.

First, she gets the bad news that mining interest have acquired the land her cabin sits on and she has to go (it seems a little suspicious).   If you are familiar with the expression, “out of the frying pan and into the fire,” then you can call this eviction the “frying pan” as it has the potential to wreck months of research.

The “into the fire” is the next piece of bad news for Jessica as a lightning strike has set the forest ablaze.   No problem, johnny-on-the-spot is an experienced forest ranger by the name of Buck Thompson (Victor Zinck Jr. — Love Alaska, Breakthrough, Spotlight on Christmas).  He is ready to evacuate her, but when she insists on taking her research with her, the pair suddenly find themselves trapped … their only means of escape, a float plane on the lake, goes up in flames and they are now cut off.

We’ve already tipped it off that Romance in the Wilds has the Dove Family seal of approval, so the tension, while real, is destined for a happy ending.   Of course, Jessica and Buck are like oil and water at first, and he is certainly frustrated with her and the danger they are in, but as they stay ahead of the raging fire they develop a bond … an affection for each other.

The film tested so well that filmmaker Justin G. Dyck recruited the pair for a sequel, Christmas in the Wilds, which is currently in post-production.
