Saturn's Core Targets Dec. 28 For The Blu-ray Debut Of Writer/Director Eric Stanze's Savage Harvest

Saturn's Core Audio & Video announced this past week that writer/director Eric Stanze’s 1994 horror chiller, Savage Harvest, will be making its Blu-ray debut on Dec. 28.

We get a bit of a backstory about a Cherokee medicine man who summons up a demon known as the Retlawkoob for purposes of revenge, but it doesn’t go well as the tribe’s harvest of corn is turned into rows of stones instead.   It doesn’t go well for the medicine man either.

The action then shifts to the present day and we meet Mikki  (Lisa Morrison — Insaniac, Savage Harvest 2: October Blood) and her friends, which genre fans will immediately recognize as our victim pool.   They are off to spend a weekend at her friend Karen’s (Ramona Midgett — Ice from the Sun) uncle’s place to help clean the things up … and wouldn’t you know it, this is where things didn’t work out so well for the medicine man so many years before.

It seems that the rocks left there have the very bad habit of unleashing demonic forces, which begin ravaging the teenagers.   It is a gruesome, bloody slaughter … one by one they die.   Only Mikki is able to figure out what is causing the carnage, but will this little mouse be able to stop Retlawkoob before its “revenge” is complete?   (Spoiler alert, she starred in writer/director Jason Christ’s 2006 sequel, Savage Harvest 2: October Blood).

Savage Harvest on Blu-ray from Saturn’s Core on Dec. 28 comes loaded with extras.   There are two vintage commentary options … filmmaker Eric Stanze teams up with actor D. J. Vivona (as Nathan) in the first, while actors Ramona Midgett and Rebecca Kennebeck (as Loretta) are joined by associate producer Jessica Wyman in the second.

There is a newly-minted documentary titled A Quarter Century Since the Harvest, plus the 1994 making-of documentary, Hell or High Water: The Making of Savage Harvest, a behind-the-scenes stills collection and a series of Eric Stanze music videos.
