Ronin Flix, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, will be returning two action classics to the Blu-ray marketplace on July 19. Both films were previously released as limited-quantity special editions, which were quickly snapped up, and are now being released to the general public.
First up is director Michael Winner’s Thanksgiving of 1972 gem, The Mechanic, starring Charles Bronson as a professional hitman, who trains a new protégé, played by Jan-Michael Vincent … the ever-lovely Jill Ireland co-stars.
Bonus goodies include two commentary options … the first featuring author Paul Talbot and the second with cinematographer Richard H. Kline and Nick Redman. There is also a video session with screenwriter Lewis John Carlino (Oscar-nominated for his I Never Promised You a Rose Garden screenplay … other films he scripted include The Great Santini, A Reflection of Fear and Crazy Joe).
The other 1970s action classic is auteur filmmaker Sam Peckinpah’s 1975 masterpiece, The Killer Elite, teaming James Caan with Robert Duvall.
Bonus delights with this Blu-ray release include commentary from film historians Paul Seydor and Garner Simmons, who are joined by moderator Nick Redman, plus there are video sessions with Bo Hopkins and production assistant Katy Haber.
