What better way to ring in the New Year than the return of a “Retro Puppet Master” tale on both DVD and Blu-ray!!
Full Moon Features, with sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has locked into Mar. 14 as the street date for director Dave Parker’s Puppet Master: Doktor Death.
Peaceful, tranquil, just a few descriptions of the Shady Oaks Senior Living facility. A lovely place, that is until the staff starts poking around in the footlocker of a recently-deceased resident … hello Doktor Death!!
We, as the audience, quickly get the message as to why Doktor Death was locked-up tight in a well-secured footlocker, hidden away from the world in a darkened closet. He’s quite mad and he has a lust for blood … he’s a regular little killing machine.
There are some nice touches here in this swiftly-paced slasher/thriller, including the new nurse, April (played by Jenny Boswell in only her second feature film … she’s noted for her short film appearances, include Mikhail Tot’s award-winning Pretty Metal) — who seems to have the moxie and wit to stand up to the demonic “doctor” — scream queen Melissa Moore as a portrait painter with a “special gift” and nurse Jennifer (Emily Sue Bengtson — Smiley Origins, Weekend Deadaway), who always leaves her patients with a smile on their face.
Also, take note of Shady Oaks resident Syd (John Capocci — Praetorian), who always has something “special” on his television.
Bonus features include “Retro Puppet Master Videozone.”
