Director Durrell Nelson's Dove Award-winning An Unlikely Angel Arrives On DVD From Mill Creek Entertainment On Mar. 21

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Mill Creek Entertainment has set Mar. 21 as the DVD debut date for director Durrell Nelson’s family-friendly/Dove Award-winning film, An Unlikely Angel.

God has an assignment for one of his angels — it might take more than a day; a week … it will be a while.   But, Gabe (Robert Amaya — Family Camp, God’s Compass, Mom’s Night Out) knows the drill, time and assignments are all relative.   Be patient, wait … this too shall pass.

And sure enough, we are introduced to the hard-driving Janie Caswell (Jillian Murray — Visible Scars, A Brush with Christmas, A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane), a very pregnant executive — as Westech — who suddenly has to take a few hours off to have a baby.   How inconvenient!

With purpose, Gabe is in the right place at the right time to get Janie to the hospital to have her baby.   This angel is now on the clock.

Literally within hours of giving birth, she hands the infant to her husband, David (Aaron Mees — Christmas in the Pines, The Righteous Twelve) and heads off to a crucial meeting at the company, but never makes it there!    The next five years she will spend in the hospital, in a coma … and life, career and the growth of her daughter from infant to happy little girl is all put on hold.

Things have changed, dramatically so.   It’s not the future that she envisioned.  Gabe is there to offer Janie guidance … the power of prayer and hope over despair.

For a time, that doesn’t seem possible.   The family has “down-sized” economically, there is the all-too-helpful neighbor, Kelly (Brittany Goodwin — The Wedding Arrangement, Christmas at the Ranch, All is Calm), and Janie knows nothing of raising a little girl.   Alone and isolated, how can she move forward?

Durrell Nelson’s An Unlikely Angel is not a soap opera — there are plenty of those around — but a movie about faith, prayer and God’s love; God’s angel in the time of need.   A message movie about family; about smiles, laughs, tender moments, joy … and be sure to have Kleenex handy as well!
