Lionsgate Home Entertainment Looks To May 16 For The Home Entertainment Launch Of Director Guy Ritchies' Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

It’s the hot potato action film.   Originally a Miramax project, director Guy Ritchie’s spy caper flick, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre — starring Jason Statham — started out in 2020, but nothing much happened.   It finally went into production in early 2021 and wrapped up some time later that year.

An early 2022 theatrical date was assigned and then pulled.   And then some nonsense about the villain being Ukrainian put the film into limbo for the rest of 2022.

Lionsgate ended up with it and did an ever so brief theatrical push on Mar. 3.  Streaming followed (piracy too) and then out of the blue (as almost a footnote on their corporate site), Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced that it would be releasing stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray editions, along with a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack on May 16.   No frills.

The ARR works out to 74 days and box office receipts were light at just $6.4 million.
