Mill Creek Entertainment has just announced that Andrés Parra’s heartfelt (and very personal) release of Terminally Optimistic will making its DVD debut on Apr. 23.

An award-winning documentary filmmaker, producer and cinematographer, Parra is the head of VenUS Directions, Inc., and has spend over 25 years in all aspects of the film business.  It’s long list of impressive credits.

Back in 2007, he took some time off and joined SNI (Smiles International Network) for a trip to Peru, visiting Machu Picchu, etc.  It was during this trip that he met Eva, she would become the love of his life.

They returned to the United States and began a serious relationship.   It began as a love story and not the stuff for a documentary, but all that changed when Eva was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Terminally Optimistic is her story, along with two others, Kim and Krissy, who are also battling the long, hard battle against the insidious nature of metastatic cancer.   They fight, they are optimistic and hopeful … and inspirational.

Parra didn’t set out to make a documentary about such a thing, but what he ended up with is a story about the people he met, the fighters, the organizations, the support groups … and in the process it became a love story.

For a fell-good film, you will want to be sure to check out director Andrés Parra’s Terminally Optimistic on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment on Apr. 23.
